Rivers & Lakes

Waupaca River - 2nd largest river in Waupaca County, flowing southeast through the city.  Fish species:   trout, smallmouth bass, panfish and catfish.
Crystal River - Flows east through southern Waupaca.  Fish species:  northern pike, largemouth bass, bluegill, rock bass, pumpkinseed, green sunfish and brown trout.  Canoeing.
Shadow Lake - A 39-acre body of water located in southern Waupaca.  Fish species:   largemouth bass, northern pike, black crappie, pumpkinseed, bluegill and perch.   Swimming beach.  Boat launching.  Fishing pier.
Mirror Lake - a 13-acre body of water in southern Waupaca.  Fish species:  largemouth bass, trout and panfish.  Boat access available in South Park.
Chain O' Lakes - Chain of 22 lakes located southwest of Waupaca.  Swimming, waterskiing, boating, canoeing and river boat cruises.  Boats available for rent.

Campgrounds - Take your pick:  Rustic Woods, Wild Wild West Kampground and Korral, Waupaca Camping Park, Royal Oaks Golf Resort, Fountain Lake RV Land Yacht Harbor, Hartman Creek State Park
Lodging - Plan on staying in Waupaca at:  Grand Seasons Hotel and Convention Center, Park Motel, Village Inn Motel, or Crystal River Bed and Breakfast, Green Fountain Inn, White House Bed and Breakfast or Whippoorwill Acres Bed and Breakfast.
Lind Center - Located about 7 miles south of Waupaca on Hwy. A.  This is a natural area of wetlands and agricultural land.  Good fishing provided by Austin, Walla Walla, McLean's and Magdanz Creeks.  Large part of the area serves as a private game reserve where buffalo, elk, deer and llamas may be seen.
Expo Center - 28,800 square feet, capacity of 1,000, booth space for 140; indoor hockey, figure and speed skating.
Golf - Foxfire Golf Club, par 71; Hidden Waters Golf Course, par 36; Royal Oaks Golf Resort, par 28; and Waupaca County Club, par 72

Parks

Oakwood Park - 18-acre county park located at famous Indian Crossing on the Chain O' Lakes.   Picnic tables, grills, playground equipment, flush toilets.  Nature trail, cross-country ski trails, hiking trails.
Swan Park - Includes 3 baseball/softball diamonds, a skateboard park, a play ground, picnic area, walking trails, restrooms,  and much, much more.
Brainards Bridge Park - 19.3 acres located on the northern and southern shore of the river on North Bailey Street in northwest Waupaca.  An open-sided shelter.  Picnic area.
Leroy Haberkorn Athletic Field - 13-acre field with rest rooms, three tennis courts, softball, baseball, football, field, track and open area.
Hartman Creek State Park - A 1,320-acre park offering tent and RV camping, 7 lakes and a swimming beach.  Boat access.  Fish include perch, panfish, and largemouth bass.   Miles of hiking and cross-country ski trails.  Also group camping, bicycle trails, moonlight ski events, interpretive programs.  The park has its own naturalist and daily nature activities.  Located 5 miles west of Waupaca on Hwy. 54.
Hendrickson Center - Former middle school gymnasium used for school, community and Recreation Department events.
Hidden Park - Located east of North Main Street off Division Street on Waupaca River.  Picnic facilities.  Playground equipment.  Fishing.
High School - Located on Shoemaker Street off Churchill Street.  Four tennis courts.   Baseball.
Nelson County Park - 1 1/2-acre site 3 miles south of Waupaca on Cty. K.  Picnic tables.   Grills.  Footbridge to small island.  Access to Crystal River.
Rasmussen Park - Scenic rest area located at north end of Main Street.  Flowers, water flowing over granite outcropping, benches.
Riverside Park - 4.2 acres located on western shore of Waupaca River on Hwys. 22 and 54 east.   Open-sided shelter house.  Rest rooms.  Picnic area.  Grills.   Swimming, fishing.  Canoeing access point also provided.
South Park - 14.9 acres between Mirror Lake and Shadow Lake on South Main Street.  Two shelters, picnic area, barbecue pit, playground equipment, speed skating rink, open ice skating rink, sledding hill, public swimming beach with full bathhouse and diving dock at Shadow Lake and boat launching areas and fishing piers located on both lakes.
Whispering Pines Park - State park overlooking Marl Lake in the Chain.  Picnic facilities.  Boat access.  Grills.  Hiking trails.  Hwy. QQ south to Cty. Q to Whispering Pines Road.
Terrace Court - Playground equipment.  Hwys 22-54 east to Terrace Court at the end.
Parks and Recreation Department - Year-round recreational activities, playground programs and special events.  Located in city hall on Main Street.

 Land Activities

Go-Carts - Enjoy racing around the track at Waterslides and Go-Carts, south of Waupaca.
J.R.'s Petting Zoo - Feed or pet over 40 different kinds of exotic and native animals and birds.   Located 1/8 mile west of Hwy. 10 on Hwy. 54.  Food and drinks available at J.R.'s Sportman's Bar and Grill at same location.
Miniature Golf - Tom Thumb Mini Golf, Whispering Pines Road, Pioneer Falls Adventure Golf, Grand Seasons Drive, Waterslides and Go-Carts, off of Hwy 22 South.
Tennis Courts - 4 lighted courts at Waupaca High School on Shoemaker Road.  Three lighted courts at Leroy Haberkorn Athletic Field.  Two courts at Waupaca Country Club.

Water Activities

Sternwheeler Cruises - See 8 lakes on the Chief Waupaca, a real sternwheeler paddle wheeler.   1 1/2 hour cruises.  Clear Water Harbor in King on Hwy. QQ.
Swimming - Public beach at South Park, end of Main Street.  Also beach at Hartman Creek State Park, 5 miles west of Hwy 54.
Tubing - Little Wolf River, Wolf River Trips on Cty. X outside of New London.
Waterslides - Located south of Waupaca at interchange of Hwys. 10, 22 and K.   Two water slides totaling over 800 feet, heated water.

Winter Activities

Skiing, Cross-Country - Hartman Creek State Park.  Rental available at River Bend Sports.
Snowmobiling - Hartman Creed State Park has 4 miles of trails.  There are 185 miles of scenic, high-quality, groomed trails.  Trails connect with every city in the county.   Maps available.
